Roasted Garlic with Homemade Bread

Tomorrow, I will be posting a book review on Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. You must buy this book. I have done more bread making since I bought this book. I made a loaf with my Comfort Food Sunday dinner and since I had to put whole heads of garlic in with the chicken, I thought I would make an extra head of garlic in the oven to make some roasted garlic. This way, we could spread it on the freshly baked bread. It is so easy to make!

Roasted Garlic

One whole head of garlic, unpeeled
Salt and pepper
Olive oil

What you will need for this recipe:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cut the top off the head of garlic about 1/2-inch down

Tear off a good size piece of aluminum foil
and place some olive oil in the middle

Put some freshly ground black pepper on the foil

Sprinkle some salt on the olive oil

The foil should look like this

Place the head of garlic in the middle of the foil

Drizzle some olive oil over the head of garlic

Sprinkle some salt directly onto the olive on top
of the garlic bulb

Grind some black pepper on the garlic bulb

Wrap the foil around the bulb

Place the bulb in the oven
and bake for about 45 minutes - 1 hour until the cloves are soft

Let the bulb cool
then squeeze the individual cloves into a bowl

Add a little olive oil to the cloves

Add some fresh black pepper

add some salt

You can also add some Parmesan cheese or serve it on the side

Spread it over freshly baked bread.....yummmmmm

  2. It was wonderful. I hope you enjoy the book and try it yourself. I am posting the step by step tomorrow. Lauren and I made it with some spaghetti sauce my first night in Vegas...we just keep sopping up the tomato sauce with the hot bread.
