A Moment of Silence

Yesterday was Valentine's Day, and we were all celebrating with our loved ones. For some people that will never happen for them again.

Flight 3407 crashed in Buffalo recently and one of our own from the food industry was on board. David Borner, 49 years old of North Tonawonda, a suburb of Buffalo, worked for Kraft Foods and was returning from a business trip when he boarded Flight 3407.

It really makes you reflect on how fragile life is, and how in one instant, your life can change. I have two boys in Buffalo, one of whom, David has been flying in and out of that airport for his residency interviews for the past month.

This is the second time in the past few weeks that I have had to hold my breath. He was flying to Philadelphia for an interview the day after the last plane crash in the Hudson RIver. He could have been on either of those flights very easily. I for one consider myself very grateful that wasn't the case.

My heart goes out to all of those families who were not so lucky. I am flying on Tuesday, and suddenly, the term on a wing and a prayer takes on new meaning.

So today, while you are enjoying a Sunday dinner with your family or your friends, take a minute to say a silent prayer for all those who are not able to do so. Remember to tell those you love just that. Everytime your loved one heads out that door, tell them you love them, you never know!

Forgive me, for not blogging about food today, but this was much more important...
